Do I have to be able to swim to go on a Great Barrier Reef Tour?

Even if you are a non swimmer you can still experience the magical wonder of the Great Barrier Reef in so many different ways! If you don’t want to get wet at all there are tours to pontoons or platforms which include glass bottom boat or semi submarine boat tours and underwater observatories. Pontoons (think of them being like a small man-made island) are activity platforms located in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. There are popular tours from Cairns, Port Douglas and Airlie Beach that visit pontoons. The pontoons are at stunning reef locations with a large array of marine life. You can even add a scenic helicopter flight over the Great Barrier Reef! If you want to get in the water and snorkel for the first time there are tours where the friendly crew will get in the water with you and teach you how to snorkel. Wear a wetsuit or lifejacket to help you float – snorkeling is simply floating on the surface of the water! Once you see the amazing array of fish and corals in the water below you will not want to get back on the boat!
