There is plenty of time to swim and snorkel at this exclusive Great Barrier Reef location selected for its superior water clarity, quality of coral and diversity of marine life.
You’ll have plenty of time to swim and snorkel in the sheltered lagoon. If you don’t want to get wet or aren’t a snorkeller you can still experience the magic of the Great Barrier Reef by taking a glass bottom boat tour, riding in a semi-submarine or walking through the underwater observatory. If you want to explore the underwater world further you can do a helmet dive or an introductory scuba dive (both subject to a medical questionnaire). Certified divers can do one or two guided dives where you will explore reef walls and coral bommies teeming with marine life. On Day 2 you will travel to Kuranda on the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway.
This amazing train ride will take you on a journey through a lush green paradise before arriving at Kuranda Station. Throughout the course of the journey you will view dense rainforests,steep ravines and flowing waterfalls as well the Barron Gorge which offers spectacular views of Cairns.
You will be seated in a Heritage Class carriage for the duration of your ride. The Heritage Class carriages offer old world charm in the design and decor. They are made of authentic timber, and may be up to 90 years old. Upon arrival at Kuranda you will have plenty of time to enjoy your natural surrounds. Your tour includes admission to the Rainforestation Nature Park when you can experience a rainforest tour in an amphibious Army Duck.
You can also visit the koala and wildlife park, as well as see a show performed by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers and wander down the Dreamtime Walk. You return journey to Cairns will be on-board the Kuranda Skyrail, a unique rainforest experience taking you on an unforgettable journey over one of Australia’s World Heritage Listed Tropical Rainforest. You will soar above the rainforest in a six-person gondola cabin which provides uninterrupted views of the Kuranda region, Cairns, the Coral Sea and the lush highlands.
The Skyrail experience runs 7.5kms long and features two mid-station platforms where you can step out of your gondola and take time to learn more about this fascinating environment surrounding you by participating in a Ranger-guided boardwalk tour and by taking a visit to the Rainforest Interpretation Centre. Here you will also get to experience the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers and Dreamtime Walk.
