14321 We did the southern cross sailing trip and thought I should write this review to give feedback on what it's like. The boat is a late 1970s boat made for racing, it is not made for comfort and if it rains you will get extremely wet. As the company will not cancel or offer a refund for extreme rain I would not book this cruise in wet season as there is not really any comfortable place to be on the boat when it rains. The boat needs a fair bit of TLC as it is quite dated. On a sunny day this could be a very nice trip to be up on deck, but for us it was terrible due to the weather and the boat being uncomfortable and being wet the entire time. In the end we pretty much wanted to head back but you are stuck out there for the whole day sitting in wet clothes in heavy rain and nothing to see as they will not come back before allotted times as set out. You need to byo alcohol which is fine if you know about it , the food on board is ok but nothing special , pretty basic. The crew are friendly but you get the feeling the deck hands are transient. I think there are probably better sailing trips out there for the money that you pay for this trip which is a lot in comparison to what you get on the other day tours in the Whitsundays. Have been back for a week now and still fighting off a flu we got from sitting in the rain all day.
