Set off to an exciting Great Barrier Reef experience, which includes snorkelling at two beautiful spots, a glass-bottomed boat tour, introductory and certified dives and a presentation by a marine biologist.

Set out from Cairns aboard a comfortable vessel to the outer Barrier Reef, meet your crew and learn more about the reef from a marine biologist on the way. Enjoy an energising breakfast which includes bacon and egg barbeque rolls, fruit platters, coffee and tea.

At the first reef location, don your gear and jump into the sparkling waters to snorkel over coral gardens, schools of fish and giant clams. Get closer to the sea-bed by embarking on a certified dive or join the crew for an introductory, guided dive. You'll also be welcomed onto a glass-bottomed boat for a guided, informative tour.

Head back on-board to feast on a delectable BBQ lunch while revelling in the tranquillity and beauty of the reef.

At the second reef location, spend some more time snorkelling or diving in shallow lagoons to discover sea fans, coral trees and an abundance of life.

54321 “ I quickly flew to Cairns for this tour, as I was on day 12/16 in Aus and hadnt even hit the water yet! Totally worth it – snorkelling was great, staff was friendly, food was good. I took the tour on a Sunday so boat wasn’t completely full which was a plus. On a side note they supply reef-safe sunscreen as well, which I apparently did not use nearly enough of. I would totally recommend this tour, and booking through reeffree. ”

54321 “ I started out a bundle of nerves when it came to scuba diving, but because the staff were so awesome and reassuring I didnt have to miss out. They were knowledgeable, patient and friendly. The marine biologist gave us insightful knowledge about the reef and marine life. The photos the photographer took were amazing. They cater for experienced divers too but if youre a beginner scuba diver and snorkeler you should definitely choose reef experience. ”

After spending a fair amount of money on a tour that stated to have basically everything included, I ended up paying an extra $50 for a snorkelling tour in which others could tag along behind anyway. Also I didn’t do the intro scuba dive as I had a child with me and couldn’t leave her alone. I think there should be different options in pricing depending on what you’re able to get out of the tour ”

The Good

This tour is popular with adventure snorkelers and first-time scuba divers looking for value for money and loads of inclusions. Breakfast, lunch, tea, coffee, drinking water, snorkeling gear, scuba diving, wetsuits, and bus transfers from and to your Cairns city hotel are all included. The large, fast, stable catamaran takes only 90 minutes to get to the outer Great Barrier Reef.

Things to Consider

Introductory scuba divers need to be medically fit for scuba diving.

Non-swimmers who want to get in the water and snorkel will be assisted by the friendly crew, or may consider alternative trips that visit an activity pontoon.
